I began photographing about fifteen years ago in London on an amateur basis, experimenting at that time with Lomo photography and trying some basic digital things. Later on as my interest progressed I moved into buying myself a tripod and a bridge camera then at that time very keen to shoot the aesthetically driven image, often landscapes and barn doors etc.
Then, after deliberating and realising that my interest in photography was beyond the amateur level I took to a course in Valencia, Spain for two years study at the Espai d’art fotográfic academy. In this course, I studied analogue and digital but left the studies before the end. I joined the BA (Hons) OCA program about five years ago. Having explored till now all major genres I find that I, like many contemporary photographers are speaking about the world that they live in, often mixing genres together in the post-modern spirit of exploration outside of the norms of conventional aesthetics and even standards. I have been leaning for some time towards a combination of documentary and producing narratives that incorporate fact and fiction to tell stories, question or investigate certain aspects of worldly life. It makes sense therefore that I persue my studies at this level with documentary.
